Women empowerment. A process of empowering women so to speak. But we couldn't be further from the reality.
From decades, women in India have struggled in so many areas of life. In whichever field, place, area, job, career, house, family, they are in, the hindrances always seemed to stop them from reaching their full potential.
Women face everything. From gender discrimination at the work place, in the family, dowry, honour killing, domestic violence, female foeticide to acid attacks, harassment, rapes and murders.
Due to the close mindedness of the society,
financial problems, lack of educational opportunities, poor implementation of laws, slow decision making process of the courts, corruption, women always seem to get cornered.
No logic. No emotions. No humanity.
Just monsters who consider women inferior, and think they can do anything with them.
If she marries the person she loves, then honour killing.
If she said no, and refused a guy or slapped him for flirting, then the next day: acid attack.
If she goes for a walk at night, then raped and murdered.
If she talks back and fights for her rights at home, domestic violence.
If she fights for equal salaries at work, then fired.
And let's not forget the stupid, illogical superstitions in the rural areas, where women are beaten to death after accusing them of practicing witchcraft.
The infamous 2012 Nirbhaya rape and murder case from Delhi. After 7 years and 3 months, the rapists were hanged on 20 March 2020.
This shows how much struggle and time it takes for a girl to get justice in India.
In 2020 and 2021, during the corona virus pandemic, there have been numerous rape cases and domestic violence cases. Some of them are:-

Some steps which can be taken to improve the current situations:-

Panchayats or gram samitis must implement this as well.
• Equal pay for equal work
•Preventing gender discrimination
•Special reservation in jobs
•Providing them with adequate facilities for their empowerment
• Place women as leaders and give them decision making roles
• More Job Opportunities for Women
• Invest in Women’s Entrepreneurial Ideas, Emotionally and Financially
• Taking Action against Unpaid Labour Work
•Mentoring Women Professionally and Personally
